We didn't really know what we were getting ourselves into since we had never met the girls or the team or anything! We went into the weekend not knowing anyone except each other. Once we got there, though, we were so excited to see a few familiar faces- Justin and Kristin Bailey were head leaders and Brent Perry was on program. They were so encouraging to us and are truly what kept us going throughout the weekend. Justin constantly reminded us that we were God's beloved and that we couldn't do any of this on our own... We had to put it all in His hands and let go. Sweet reminders.
We didn't really get to know many of the leaders from the area, but thankfully the girls liked us (or at least were really good at pretending they did! :) ). I had a wonderful time. I really enjoyed walking alongside Jamie (and Christine) by loving on these girls and talking to them about life and Jesus. They were big talkers! We were a little nervous about cabin times since our CAK girls are usually pretty quiet during this time and act like they have nothing to say... we were ready for some awkward moments, but boy were we in for a surprise when they constantly talked even through the bell for the next activity and wanted to have their own cabin times later!
I promise Jamie and I really were there even though we only made it into two pictures. Sadly, we didn't even get a picture of the whole group! These girls don't sleep! Like I said, they LOVE to talk, even into the wee hours of the morning! So sorry for the lack-of-sleep look I'm rockin' in these pictures.
